I am teaching in Chengdu, China on a teacher exchange program between Phoenix Country Day School and the Chengdu Experimental Foreign Languages School.
I went out exploring the neighborhood and stopped in this restruant for lunch. I had dumplings stuffed with something tasty. The cost was 3 RMB or about 37 cents. There is a welcoming dinner tonight, Cathy will pick me up at 4:00. We are going to have a look at my classroom then head out to dinner.

I teach 5th grade science and mathematics at Phoenix Country Day School in Paradise Valley, AZ. There is a link to my school below. I have a M.S. in Geology from Idaho State University and have worked as a mudlogger in Wyoming and as a surveyor for the United States Forest Service in Idaho. For the past 23 years I have taught in Idaho, Kuwait, Korea, Myanmar, and Phoenix. My hobbies are rock hounding, reading, and traveling. I enjoy taking my students mineral collecting on the weekend. Our most recent trip was to collect mica near Cleator, AZ. We found huge books of mica in a pegmatite. My wife Dell and I have four daughters and six grandchildren. My favorite vacation was to the Grand Canyon where I rafted the Colorado River from Lee’s Ferry to Diamond Creek. My favorite sport is football and my favorite food is Asian.
