School Lunch

I went to the cafeteria for the first time today with Mr. Long and Mr. Stone. It turns out that I need to get a lunch card and I will be able to eat for free! The first picture is of the Ladies serving food and the second is of my tray. Clockwise from upper left is the menu. To the best of my understanding the first item is pickled cabbage followed by seafood, pigs feet and carrots, eggplant, and rice. The food was excellent. Neither Mr. Stone nor Mr. Long was sure what the meat in the seafood was. Living high in China!J. Bob

Hi Elaine,
Great to hear from you! When I worked with Mrs Tseng there was never a dull moment. I am doing all sotrs of fun activities. Tomorrow I will go out for a "hot pot" lunch with the teachers. This weekend I plan to go to an antique market and visit poet's park.

I noticed the rice was served from a large tray. Was it cooked in the tray? The food must be tasty. Is it spicy? How much is the school lunch if you don't have a card? Do you drink tea with the meal?

Hi Irene,
I do not know how they cook the rice or how much lunch would cost without the card. The food is very spicy! It makes the top of my head sweat. No tea is served but there is a bowl of soup that comes with the meal, everyone just drinks from the soup bowl.

Hello J. Bob: What a wonderful experience you are having and thanks for sharing. Now, lets talk about eating frogs in Indiana, exactly what part of the frog did you eat? Anything other than the legs which jumped in the skillet!!!!! What fun. The food looks wonderful, sometimes you don't need to know what's in it, it's better that way. I know you and Dell will create a lifetime of memories in the short time she gets to spent with you. Keep smiling....the Conley's
